Monday's Quote - Campbell

"You must have a room, or a certain hour or so a day, where you don't know what was in the newspapers that morning... a place where you can simply experience and bring forth what you are and what you might be."
-Joseph Campbell

I picked today's quote last week, actually, but it seeems strangely appropriate today.  I awoke to being told of Osama bin Laden's death.  I thought we were trying to kill Gaddafi?  It is all strange to me - I don't understand the idea of this kind of retribution - we all seem to be acting like thugs.  Whatever the forces in play now, they are so much bigger than bin Laden, and probably crazier and now angrier.

I am quite sure there will be a great Daily Show tonight - there's just too much to go for in this story.  (Obama kills Osama!  Never mind Gaddafi it's bin Laden!)

Everyone needs a safe space for creativity - everyone.  You cannot spend your entire waking life in spaces dictated by others.  There is nature - for those who sing it - I'll take a city landscape to melt into, usually.  But there is also this quiet place in your mind, absent of twitter and FB and expectations.  There must be a daily moment when you just let your expectations go and then breathe.  Set your own tone.  Direct your own life.  Sometimes the best direction comes from letting go to the forces at hand.

Create some peace this week.  We need it.
