A blues for the body
swap coffee for misery with each wake up
tell yourself it’s temporary – like life
read futures in the swirl of grounds in cup
while each movement cuts like a knife
there’s a dance you can’t dance
so you sing instead
there’s a world you can’t chance
so you live it in your head
This bone on bone this fight or flight
These sleepless nights these weary steps
The panicked breath the cheap disguise
the invisible enemy looks with your eyes
battling you for control of this life
Everything could be better
if it didn’t keep getting worse
Optimism feeds like an addictive curse
It’s easy to forget joy when everything hurts
swap coffee for misery with each wake up
tell yourself it’s temporary – like life
read futures in the swirl of grounds in cup
while each movement cuts like a knife
one thing you know for sure
you will never rest in peace
that thing you know for certain
there’ll be no peaceful rest

Okay - I gave myself and a few others this writing prompt. I think this is a song. So is 2/30 - still not finished! I'm letting this one go for now, cause I can't keep them all unfinished.
Writing prompt for Day 5 - Ode to the Body - yup - flip it! If you follow the prompt leave a link to your piece in the comments!
