Salt Water & Aloe
These are the things the body asks for
Pour me salt water and aloe
replenish
all this dry tinder
and cracked pavement
in a frayed shell
this is how life ends
but it started
with salt and
viscous liquids
accidental organics
single cells
mutating
motility
mobility
nomads
moving further and further into sun
lungs remember
the cooling clean
of gills
the flow and rinse
we have yet to learn
photosynthesis
we are made of water
salt
aloe’s enzymes and lignins
direct our cells
we are as old
as we are new
compunds
in a landscape
of body
flowing through time
craving salt water
to purify
aloe
to heal
