NaPoWriMo 17/30 - Au + Day 18 Prompt

Au

That gold you spun
wrapped around me
like magic
poured into my crevasses
seeped into my soul
filled invisible cracks

it was like
living light

you give good shine

Alchemist you
turn dead into gold

Liquid silk shapes to me
all that’s left now
is the solidifying
of this new form

but you withdraw
before the metal sets
like attracting like
your molecules follow you

there I am
naked
cracked
brittle broken
fracked
disintegrating
slowly
disappearing
into dust.

Update: tiny rewrite. Also - this is from yesterday's prompt - and more on kintsukuroi here

 DAY 18 PROMPT:

I know of a cure for everything: salt water...in one way or the other. Sweat, or tears, or the salt sea.

Karen Blixen

I love this quote and more and more have come to rely on the purification of salt water. Maybe you know a different "cure for everything." Make it work for you.

Quote of the Week - Burroughs

Do not despise your own place and hour. Every place is under the stars, every place is the center of the world.
- John Burroughs via Goodreads
The Midnight in Paris thing again.

Just be where, and when, you are.

Quote of the Week - Ellison

"Life is to be lived, not controlled; and humanity is won by continuing to play in face of certain defeat."

 Aargh...truth hurts!  Happy Monday!

Quote of the Week - Dick (no - not what you're thinking!)

File:PhilipDick.jpg

"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away."
- Philip K. Dick (via Goodreads)

Aargh.  And ain't it just tax season.

Have a great week!

p.s.  While preparing this post I learned that the "K" stands for Kindred.  Couldn't help thinking of Octavia Butler and wondering if there was a connection.

Quote of the Week - Stanton

"The moment we begin to fear the opinions of others and hesitate to tell the truth that is in us, and from motives of policy are silent when we should speak, the divine floods of light and life no longer flow into our souls."
- Elizabeth Cady Stanton (via Goodreads)
